FEATURE #8: My Illustrations

Firstly, I'd like to apologise for the quality of these photos - I don't have a camera or a scanner at the moment so the only way I could digitalise my artwork was to snapshot in on my phone! I hope to scan some images in very soon.

So, as some of you may know, I studied Illustration and Graphic Design at university, not because it's something that I think I'm incredibly good at, but because it's something I enjoy beyond most other things in life. I've always been creative and drawing gives me a wonderful sense of cathartisism. I sometimes get frustrated by my own abilities as I know I'm not as talented as others, but I enjoy what I do and am, generally, pleased with the outcomes of my sketches and pictures.

I mainly work in fine liner on white paper, creating images usually multiple lines and dots for texture and shading. I do experient with colours and inks occasionally too.

Although I know I want to work in the art & design industry as a career, I'm not quite sure in what field. I guess we'll find out when the opportunity arises.

Local Heroes Bad Hair Day beanie
TK Maxx Striped contrast dress
H&M Denim Jacket
New Look Black creepers

Day off today so I have been chilling around the house. Watched the whole third season of Arrested Development on Netflix so I'm ready for the release of the fourth on the 26th! (as you can tell, I've had an extremely productive day!) Also popped into town to get some art supplies as I've been trying to drsw a bit more often to keep my skills in shape and start making up some sort of portfolio so that I actually have something to show if I ever get an art job!

Seeing as I have been at home most of the day I chose something casual to wear, this dress is so easy just to throw on because the contrasting colour panels add instant interest. I through on my Bad Hair Day beanie I bought from Local Heroes. It's the same design as the one Cara Delevingne wears...

She is pretty much one of the coolest people in the public eye at the moment!

My stone washed denim jacket was £29.99 from H&M, quite expensive for a light weight jacket but it seems to go with near enough everything so I'm definitely getting my money's worth - even if some days I am having to go back to my winter blanket coat because of the weather!

Primark Stars and stripes bobble hat beanie
Vans Green crewneck tshirt
New Look High waisted brown shoes
eBay Onyx gem pendant

Sometimes shorts and a tshirt are all you need to survive a summery sunshine day. It's very rare for me to show any amount of flesh, but when sat my enclosed garden with a guitar and a pint of cider, you just want to feel the sun on your skin and enjoy yourself!
I bought this tshirt from eBay for a bargain price of £5. From the photos, it looked more to me like a deep, forest green so when it arrived and it was pretty damn bright, I was a little bit taken back. But I do like the colour.
Teamed with my brown shorts to keep in the earthy tones, I teamed it with my (brother's!) bobble hat for an added touch of colour.

Hey guys, guess what? It's SUNNY! And it's making me extremely happy too. I have been sat out in the garden this evening with a cider listening to a combination of songs that put me in a summery mood (mainly Why? and The Smiths) so I'm in pretty good spirits at the moment!

Spent this weekend in Manchester on a hen do with was absolutely fantastic. I don't think I've ever eaten so much (amazing) food in such a short space of time! We started the festivities with a visit to Red Hot World Buffet, which I never got to visit when I was living in the city, and it was delicious! I sampled the Chinese, Tex Mex and Indian menus before scoffing down a plateful of apple pie. We then moved on to a kareoke booth at Tiger Tiger.
The second day was spent at a chocolate making workshop. No amount of lactose intolerance could stop me from truffle piping and chocolate tasting! We then made cocktails and had a emormous 3 course meal at Hard Rock Cafe before sampling the wonderfully elaborate cabaret at The Birdcage. So, all in all, a fantastic weekend!
Here's a little taster of what we had to dress like for the second evening. My friend, Dani, and I had such a wonderful weekend. Big thanks for Stacey for being such a great hen and the other girls who made it such a fun experience!

So, from that, you can probably all appreciate that I needed a comfy, cosy outfit to get me through the day and the journey home! I find a playsuit, although inconvenient at some points, can be one of the simpliest and comfiest items of clothing to wear cause you just pull it on and - voila - outfit! This Urban Outfitters one is great f or me because it hides even the worst bloats you can imagine with it's split front. I love the contrast in florals as well. Trainers are an obvious choice for comfort and, apart from this weekend and working, I don't seem to wear anything else on my feet at the moment!

On the blogging theme, I've written two blogs this month elsewhere. One was for my monthly column over at British Style Bloggers. You can read about how to cope with all your blogging blues here. I always love knowing what you guys think so leave a comment if you've ever experience any writer's block when it comes to blogging and let me know how you beat the blues. My other blog was for my favourite independant fashion label, Alice Takes A Trip for their ASOS Marketplace page. If you want to read all about their new and beautiful monochrome collection you can find out all you need here.
Hope the sun is out for you all, wherever you may be. If not, hope you're enjoying yourselves anyway.

Before anyone says anything, yes, we have a wreath on our front door! I'm not sure if it's a Christmas wreath that we've decided is for keeps or the Pryce family have just decided to spread the festive spirit all through the year, but here we are in March with a wreath!
I mentioned in a previous post that I have recently had a lot of trouble finding clothes that I feel comfortable in and resorting to wearing leggings and oversized jumpers just so I feel ok, but recently I've tried to step back into my girlish ways and bring a dress out of hiding a little more often. This is one of my favourite ever dresses. The pattern and the cut are so feminine and flattering.

I also recently purchased some hair extensions! After wanting some for many, many years now I have always been put off by the ethical side of things. I'd wanted real hair as it's easier to style and is more likely to blend with your own hair, but knowing how some hair has been sourced always made me worried and feel guilty about wearing them. However, I spent an evening at my friend, Milki's, and we researched thoroughly and found a company that sources all their hair as ethically as possible. I still have a few ifs and buts about extensions but I hope I've done it in the best way that I can. Just wish my hair would grow this long in a day!!
